LAS VEGAS — For anyone in Las Vegas who needs to get their hands on a stash of hand sanitizer, Little Darlings strip club on Western Ave can fill your need.

Little Darlings announced late last week that, in response to the coronavirus outbreak, it is giving away 50,000 free bottles of hand sanitizer.

Details of the Giveaway

While supplies last, during the entire month of March every guest at the club will get a free mini-bottle of hand sanitizer.

“It’s an opportunity to help out with the Coronavirus scare,” commented LeAnna DaPoint, a club manager, “is very important to Little Darlings. Las Vegas is a tourist hotspot, and we want to do anything we can to remain virus-free. Maybe it seems silly, but we take our guest’s health very seriously. We’re the most popular adult club in Vegas, and the show must go on!”

That’s what we call community service.

The giveaway comes in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the recent news that at least two people in Nevada could have the virus, including one in the Las Vegas Valley.

Ryan Carlson, the club’s Director of Operations, hopes that Little Darlings’ hand sanitizer giveaway inspires other local businesses to do the same. “Just like any of our giveaways and charity drives, we hope to encourage our vendors, neighbors, and our fellow Las Vegas businesses to similarly engage in the effort to support our community.”

Little Darlings’ sister strip club in Tampa, Florida, Deja Vu Showgirls, is also joining the fight against the virus. Deja Vu Showgirls giving away face masks to the first 10,000 customers.

The Run on Hand Sanitizer

The shelves have been stripped bare of sanitizer at many stores not only in Southern Nevada, but nationwide. Many other supplies are also disappearing from store shelves, as residents prepare for possibly having to stay home for an extended period of time.

According to health officials, hand sanitizer is the most effective thing, besides hand washing, to prevent the virus from spreading. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, has resulted in a nationwide hand sanitizer shortage, as well as price gouging.

In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo made an appearance on QVC to promote the “NYS Clean” hand sanitizer the state’s prisons have been authorized to begin producing immediately. New York’s prison-made 75% alcohol hand sanitizer has a “floral bouquet.” Furthermore, Governor Cuomo says New York will send the $6.10 per gallon hand sanitizer anywhere it’s needed.

The governor has received some criticism from those saying prison workers were being used as slave labor. However, the governor countered criticism by insisting that the incarcerated individuals were receiving valuable job training and learning skills that would advance their lives after prison.

The TSA Eases Hand Sanitizer Restrictions

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, The Transportation Security Administration will now allow airline passengers to take on board up to a 12-ounce bottle of hand sanitizer. That’s significantly more than the 3.4-ounce bottles previously allowed. However, this only applies to hand sanitizer, and not other hygiene products such as shampoo.

Air Travel Restrictions Will Impact the Las Vegas Tourism Industry

The Las Vegas tourism hospitality and tourism industry will be hit hard by the 30-day travel ban on passengers arriving from China and Europe, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not the best time to visit Vegas.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority data from 2018 showed that Canadian tourists accounted for 1.59 million visitors, followed by Mexico with 1.14 million visitors. The UK came in third, with 736,000 visitors. Fortunately, these countries are not included in the travel ban, yet.

Tourists from China also play a big part in the tourism industry in Las Vegas; well over 200,000 visitors from mainland China find their way to Sin City every year.

Likewise, visitors from European countries are important to Las Vegas. The numbers from Europe include Germany with 219,600 visitors, France, 96,300, and the Netherlands with 59,000 people paying a visit to Vegas. In fact, more than 1.5 million people visit Las Vegas every year from European countries.
